Yesterday, lecturers of the new Master Ecological Forecasting (MEF) met for the first time as a group in Bayreuth at the Chair of Plant Ecology. The meeting offered everyone the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange on backgrounds and future contributions to the programme, which is part of the Elite Network Bavaria. While many among the attendees already knew each other, also new connections were established. For example, members of the two Universities involved – University of Bayreuth and University of Würzburg – had the chance to meet, as well as members of different research departments such as Philosophy, Economics, Ecology, and Remote Sensing. The meeting was also used to plan and prepare next week’s official start of the programme: On the 12th of October, the first generation of MEF students will arrive and start their studies with introductory lecturers held by MEF professors from both Bayreuth and Würzburg.
