Vincent Wilkens

About

Vincent Wilkens is a postdoctoral researcher in the Ecosystem Analysis and Simulation (EASI) Lab and lecturer for Ecological Forecasting MSc. He is currently finishing his PhD in the Department of Biogeography (2024 – present), having completed an MSc in Global Change Ecology at the University of Bayreuth (2023).

Vincent Wilkens is interested in understanding global biogeographic patterns, with particular focus on forest ecology, island biogeography, and paleoecology. He also aims to develop and apply new methods for inference and prediction of ecological systems in general. Currently, he is working on combining deep learning and ecological theory to improve the performance, interpretability, and transferability of predictive models.
